Summer Stealers!

I was collecting some of my favourite holiday pieces and trawling the web for some holiday outfit inspiration and found some absolute beauties! And what's more, they're all reasonably priced from some of my fav high street stores!

From Top Shop to New Look and even Tesco, I've found some great additions for my Summer wardrobe (if it ever arrives in the UK that is… COME ON SUN WHERE ARE YOU?)

I love this zebra print bralet from Top Shop. It's really unique and different and a really stand out design. Paired with some high waisted shorts, jeans or even a maxi or midi skirt this could pull together any plain bottoms to create a really stylish outfit! And at only £16 it's a good bargain!

We all need shorts for the summer and I am really loving this classic denim pair. They have pearl beading and little gems on the side and what's more they're only £14 from Tesco! Yeah I know,  Tesco! They have a lovely design and are a really nice twist on the staple denim short and the beading makes it fun and girly.

A staple dress for the Summer is a must have, with the BBQs, Weddings and parties we all MUST attend over the sunny months we all need a good staple dress. I love this off the shoulder dress, £45, from Miss Selfridge in this burn orange/red colour. The cut looks really flattering too with a skater style skirt and some great sculpting across the bust. This would look great in the day time with some gladiator sandals and a pair of aviator sunglasses and then dressed up in the evening with some simple black heels or even cream wedges.

Maxi skirts and dresses are IN this season and I love them! Maxi skirts are perfect for covering up on cooler days and still look really summery. I've picked out this Aztec print pastel one from New Look and at only £16.99 it's a bargain. Teamed with a black or white cami, a weaved gold belt, some gold dangly earrings and some gladiator sandals this will be the pop of colour you need. And if it gets chilly a black leather jacket will really set it off!

And of course you have to have a playsuit in your summer wardrobe. I've found this bandeau spotty denim one from New Look for just £22.99. The polka dots on the denim make it more girly and the buttons down the front make it look structured but also gives some movement to the bust area.

Playsuits are great when you want to wear an all in one but don't want the worry of everyone seeing your kickers (we've all been there ladies!) And i think this one would look great with some tan flip flops, a long necklace and wavy beach hair, and if you're off to a festival this Summer it'd also look great with wellies and a carry! Perfect!!

Well that's some of my Summer picks, and some I'll definitely be picking up this weekend. Best watch my purse strings. Haha kidding, I'm a blogger, spending is what I do best ;)

There'll be even more of my summer picks up soon!

Loving My Basic Face!

Looking for a new nude basics combo?

I trawl the high street and high end brands to find the best base make up that works for me. From cheap foundations to high end BB cream I'm a sucker for them all so always end up with loads of them. Primers, colour correctors, foundations, skin tints, tinted moisturisers, BB creams, you name it I have it!

I'm not a big fan of heavy coverage, as as a rule my skin is pretty good (touch wood touch wood, I have a wedding to go to on Saturday haha), so I only need a light coverage. I do suffer with redness and large pores though so I usually use light products which won't cake my face.

And having such a vast collection of these products I want to share my 2 favourite combinations with you guys!
I love a matt finish, as with oily skin, a dewy glow just makes you look greasy!

So without further a do I proudly announce my top 2 combos!

Combo 1- A firm loved favourite

I first tried out the CC creams when they launched after loving the BB versions. I have the green one for redness and the purple one for brightness and I love them both.

I love the formulation and really like how it doesn't feel like a foundation when you put it on. The colour blends to my face really well and I love the look it gives. I also find it really mattifying!
I just squiggle it over my face then rub it in with my fingers and the finnish is perfect. I do love my faithful Loreal friend! Thank you CC Cream you may take a seat!

On top of this I use a powder. As I do have oily skin, throughout the day I need to control it but with these product I have no need.

After applying the CC cream I wait about 5 minutes, usually brushing my teeth in the meantime, and then I apply a powder. I've really been enjoying the Fit Me range by Maybelline recently and have loved it since it to was launched.
I just swirl the brush in and sweep it across my face, patting it across my oiliest areas like my chin, nose and forehead.

And that is my basic face with combo 1. I'd happily go out with just this on my face and for me is a perfect day to day base which stays all day.

Combo 2

I use exactly the same method to apply these 2 products as I do my combo 1 products but this time I switch it up by using the No 7 BB Cream and the No 7 Powder Foundation.

The BB cream is a lot thicker than the Loreal one and it smells like chocolate! Winner!! Usually I don't like thick formulations but this one goes on really light, doesn't clog the skin and feels really smooth and light weight. I use the colour medium and it's a pretty good match for my skin tone.

The No 7 Powder Foundation is also very light, and if you have perfect skin it'd be a great product to use on it's own to get rid of any shine. But as I suffer with redness I put the BB Cream underneath to make my complexion more even…. and I love it.

This is my other fav combo.

I mix it up during the week as of which one I wear but I love both so thought I'd share.

Let's Talk About Moisturisers!

It's not fancy, it's not pretty, it doesn't have us all drooling! But it is one of the most important things in a beauty skin care routine!

From high end to high street there's so many lotions and potions out there which tell us they'll tighten, firm, decrease oil, hydrate, prime, colour correct and everything else under the sun, so how are we meant to know what's best for our skin?!

Well over the past year I've been trying lots of moisturisers to try and find the best one for my skin type! I have combination to oily skin but if I put the wrong product on my skin does not like it at all. I turn into a oily mess with the a shine a new car would be proud off, which I hate, obviously!
So if you struggle with oily skin like myself then hopefully this product review will give you a helping hand!

Over the past 12 months I've tried and tested loads, but I've picked the best, the not so good and the worst ones I've tried! So be prepared for a product blessing and a product bashing!

At 4 it's the Nivea Daily Express Primer. I had such high hopes for this product as I'd heard rave reviews at how it was great primer and could also double up as a moisturiser so was a perfect one pot product. But for me it just didn't work. I found the gel like formula too runny and it never seemed to sink into my skin.

Applying make up over it? I'd never be able to do it as my face was left wet and sticky! Yes it felt hydrated but that's because it generally left me with a wet face.

I have heard that if you apply it as a touch up throughout the day it helps to blend your foundation back into a perfect finish if it's slipped around during the day. I haven't tried this tip as I frankly didn't like the product and didn't buy it for that use. It's also a pretty hefty and heavy glass pot to carry around with you for small tough ups too.

However, I do think this product would work great if your skin is either dry or doesn't get oily as it really is packed with vitamins and really does moisturise and hydrate the skin! It's just not an oily girl's go to.

At number 3 it's the Avon Solutions Complete Balance Oil Free Day Mattifier SPF15. It's a similar consistency to the Nivea Primer one with the gel formula but this one is more like a gel crossed with a cream.

It wasn't heady or oily but I don't think it mattified my skin. During the first couple of weeks of use it was great but as my skin became used to the product it didn't work as well.

I repurchased this product twice but now it lies pretty much dormant in my cupboard because of my number 1!

The runner up is Simple's Night and Day moisturisers from the age resisting collection. I got these as when in your 20s it's a good idea to start to prepare so I thought why not!?

I really enjoying using these products and I love the fact I have a day cream and a night cream and the package is great. They come in a little pump bottle which is great as one pump does your whole face. I'm still currently using these (while my number 1 lives at the boyfriend's) and will probably repurchase the night cream.

The formula of both products is a cream and its really nice to use. Weirdly I find the day cream heavier than the night cream which I initially found odd. I think this is the reason this product didn't quite work for me.

I love the nigh cream as in the morning I still feel hydrate and refreshed but I think the day one is too heavy for me and leaves my skin probably too hydrated as throughout the day my face becomes shiny due to oil.

I'd definitely recommend both of these products but maybe don't use the day one if you   suffer with oily skin. I'll definitely be repurchasing the night cream and using it alongside my number 1 product, (which is by the same brand, so I still being faithful).

Hold grail. The one I come back to time after time… yes it's the Simple Light and Hydrating Moisturiser.

Even though my number 2 products were also by Simple I noticed that this one was by far my have from taking a nearly used up bottle round to the boyfriends while I started using the day and night ones.

From applying this moisturiser in the morning before makeup application and in the evening after cleansing at the boyfriend's, I've realised this product works a lot better for me. It keeps my face matt and doesn't leave me with a shiny finish after a few hours of wear under makeup.

I love it!!! Thank you Simple!

I'm A Healthy Eater!

Summer is pretty much here, well it was until I woke up this morning and it was raining, and had dropped 7 degrees! Whaaaat?! I know, it's rubbish but the is British Summer Time for you.

Now Summer is "here" I wanted to stop feeling sluggish, bloated  and overall not feeling my best so I though, why not become a super healthy eater and join Slimming World?

As my consultant says Slimming World is a healthy eating plan and not a diet! (or Dare I Eat That, as she called it). And she couldn't be more right! You can eat so much and in this first week I've been on it I swear I've eaten more than I ever did before. It's all healthy stuff from fruit and veg and salad and you can eat all the lean meat and fish you desire. Potatoes, chips and even chocolate is allowed in moderation and with the sun system it's pretty easy to calculate what you're eating.

Below is a few pics to show what I've been enjoying over my first week at Slimming World. I haven't had my first weigh in yet as that's tonight, so hoping I've lost some weight! Fingers crossed!
