Let's Review: Nyla-Rose.Com

Nyla Rose is a beautiful online store which specialises in all things girly and amazing. They sell the most amazing vintage clothes and 50s style swing dresses, perfect for us curvier ladies. Along with shabby chic home wares, cute bags and purses and little gifts for kids, it's a great place on the web and on of my favourite corners of the internet for all things beautiful and well, me!

So when they asked me to review one of their best sellers I was over the moon and couldn't wait to get writing.

When i receive this pretty pink package in the post I knew that my gift from Nyla Rose had come.  I got to choose which item I wanted to review so I chose the beautiful Butterfly Coin Purse which sells for £4 on their website and couldn't wait for it to arrive.

After tearing open the plastic envelope a beautifully wrapped parcel was inside. It really was a girl's dream; pink tissue paper and a beautiful Nyla Rose sticker. Definitely my favourite kind of mail. The lovely people from Nyla Rose even included a Thank You card which I thought was such a personal touch. Thank you so much lovely ladies!

When I carefully ripped open the tissue paper and spotted the Butterfly Coin Purse I was surprised at how big it was, as it was a lot larger than I thought it would be. I imagined that after a small handful of coins the purse would be full but it's actually a great size with plenty of room for cash (more of that good stuff in a minute).

The pattern on the purse is beautiful (as well as being on the practical cloth).  A light cream colour is the background and there's a whole host of multicolour butterflies all over it, with different butterflies on the front and back. It's really pretty and girly and looks amazingly cute when you pull it our of your bag.

The oil cloth fabric makes it easy to clean too, as there's nothing worse than pulling out a grubby purse form the bottom of your handbag right? It's wipe clean and hardwearing, exactly what I need, especially as we know a woman's handbag is like a mine field right ladies?

There's two compartments which is loads more than I expected as I just thought it would be one pocket and that was it. Each side is lined in pink silk fabric and is slightly padded and looks really pretty when opened. One side would be perfect for all that loose change and the other side for cards as it fits cards perfectly.

I popped a few store cards in to see the size and I was really please with the amount of cards you can fit in. It's definitely a great little purse for when you're taking a smaller bag and don't want to carry around your whole wallet, as with some cash, change and a few cards (and extra room for a lippy or two) it's great. The perfect night out purse.

This little purse is a great new addition to my handbag and is definitely my new go to for the smaller bag smaller purse problem days.

I'm Engaged

When I woke up on the morning of Wednesday 3rd September in my little twin bedroom down in Dawlish Warren, Devon, which I was sharing with my lovely boyfriend Dan, I never imaged I'd become a fiancée.

The rest of my family were all on holiday with us and had arranged a day out to Teighmouth, but as it was Dan's first holiday down at Dawlish he wanted to spend a day in the local area, taking a trip to the beach, seeing the sites and just having a nice relaxing day together to forget the stresses of work.

We walked down to the seafront and grabbed a box of 5 hot doughnuts (it's got to be done) and took a walk across the dunes. It was a warm but overcast day and we took our shoes off and ran in the sand, it was perfect.

We walked all the way along the dune to the far end of the beach which was really quiet as there was no one else there but us. We sat on the seafront and had a chat, Dan walked out to the sea and I was admiring the view.

Dan said some of the nicest words ever, all about the sea, his love for it and how it goes on forever. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him with the most gorgeous sparkly ring. I was completely blown away, I was so shocked, I really had no idea he was going to ask! I initially asked if he was joking, and then if he asked my dad! haha, but of course I said yes. It was the best moment of  my life and was so perfect.

I'll always remember the moment, the words he said, how chuffed he was after it was over and calling my family to tell them the news. It was completely magical and I wouldn't change a thing. And now we're so so happy and all excited about planning our wedding!!

So now we're engaged the wedding fun begins, with wedding fairs, saving and lots of great ideas, we're going to create our dream day. And I'm no Bridezilla, and it's just as much Dan's day as it is mine, so we're doing lots of DIY to make it personal, great quirky bits and we'll make it lots of fun, as that's who we are.

So here's to our day and A LOT of planning!!

Stay tuned…

#Tweetseat With Bumble&Bumble, Ojon, Smashbox and Boots!

When I walked into Boots I couldn't help but be excited! The stands are always so pretty & I always wants to buy something... But restrain myself all the time haha.

I met Kirsty from Bumble & Bumble & Ojon & she talked to me about the amazing products they have in their ranges.

Bumble & Bumble is all about creating style. With waxes, creams, oils, gels, mists & sprays there's a whole host of products for every hair time to make your hair look (& feel) the best it can.

Ojon is all about repairing the hair. Whether it's heat damage, water damage, colour damage, or your hair is dry with split ends, Ojon will have a product to suit your needs & get your hair back to happy & healthy. Ojon products are made up of a lot of the same compounds as what is in our hair so can replenish all those nutrients & good things we wash away or colour out.

Now that I've given you a bit of an idea on the products, check out what Kirsty used on my mane.

It's Hair Time!

In the first photo my hair is quite fluffy, mane like & not really in any style. This is what I like to call my "I haven't done anything to my hair today" look, as really I haven't.

I just brush & go. My hair has a natural wave which generally I just leave, but spending the day with Kirsty made me realise there's loads of great products which can enhance my natural waves & make them look amazing with minimal effort. Horraaaay!

The first product Kirsty used on my hair was the Bumble & Bumble Grooming Creme. This made my hair a lot more manageable and prepped it for styling.  It's also a heat protector so was perfect for the next step as Kirsty used a 2 inch wide curling iron to add some soft & subtle waves & create more texture in my already wavy hair. This added a lot more body to the root & made my hair look 10 times better already, even with just 1 product & a quick curl.

The next product Kirsty used was the Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil which smelt AMAZING and really nourished the ends of my hair and made the ends feel really healthy.  I was so surprised with the Bumble & Bumble range as even though I was having product put into my hair, it didn't feel weighed down, heavy or sticky which was great. I find myself staying away from putting products in as always find they make my hair crispy or heavy, but with Bumble & Bumble this definitely wasn't the case. My hair felt like hair & smelt amazing, as all their products have a lovely fresh smell as believe it or not they're designed for men too!

Kirsty knows I love a bit of volume in my hair, especially at the root, as because my hair is long, very thick & wavy, my roots can often look flat from the weight of my hair. She then applied Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray and Bumble & Bumble Dryspun Finish., one on each side so I could see the effect of both products.

The Surf Spray was more beachy looking and left slightly more defined waves, pretty much how you'd imagine your hair to look after it's dried after coming home from the seaside. And the Dryspun Finish gave the same effect made my hair more subtle and gave the waves more texture and volume. When Kirsty had finished with my hair I was so happy with the finished result. The waves were defined but not crispy & looked really natural & considering the amount of products in my hair compared to my usual zero products, my hair felt great too & the whole process was fairly speedy & Kirsty & I were nattering on & on too!

So here's my finished hair, I love it & I've definitely been inspired to make a lot more effort with my hair now. Well I say effort haha :)

Makeup Time

So now onto make up where I met the lovely Roya from Smashbox. Roya helped me choose the best primers, shades & colours for my skin & was so lush.

We chose the Colour Correcting Primer as I have a lot of redness in my skin as you can see in the before photo.

Bare in mind I did go to Boots with a bit of BB cream on so the hair photos aren't bare faced, although I look it. Definitely need to try wearing a bit more haha.

She used a foundation brush to apply the primer, concentrating on my nose, cheeks & chin as they're my reddest patches. She then coloured matched me to the Liquid Halo Foundation in Shade 2 which is a foundation made up of loads of vitamins and minerals which is great and really gentle on the skin acting like skin care as well as makeup. Roya applied this with a foundation brush too & the end result was flawless. The finish looked really nice, kind of in the middle between matt & dewey and didn't feel heavy on my skin. She then popped some HD Concealer in Light under my eyes to get rid of any bags and make me look more fresh faced and awake!

She then applied some bronzer to contour using Sunkissed Matte and them some blusher from the Halo range in Warm Glow which was a gorgeous soft peach and it suited me so well. Roya also highlighted my cheek bones and under brow bone with the Soft Light Highlighter in Shimmer.

Next step, my eyes & something which I struggle with. However much eyeshadow I put on I always end up looking like I'm not wearing any. Definitely think it's down to the fact I think I'll over do it but Roya really helped me see how dark I could go... And look great too. She started off with the 24 hour Shadow Primer and then used a number of light & dark browns & a black from the Full Exposure Palette and I loved the result. It really made my eyes stand out. She the lined my water line with Always Sharp Liner in a brown shimmery shade called Penny Lane and put on a coat of Full Exposure Mascara.

I then had my brows done so to frame my face and make my eyes pop even more and for this Browtech in Brunette.

Then to finish of the look I chose a deep plum lip colour in the shade Fig & my look was complete.

Then it was time for some shameless selfies & fun photos to show off my new look.

I really loved it so much & am definitely going to try recreating the make up & hair at home. I've been practising the eyes each day & haven't quite got to the right level of darkness but it's going well. I'm hoping to pull it out the bag & wear the eye make up to a wedding on Friday so fingers crossed!

Thanks so much to Kirsty & Roya & Boota, Bumble & Bumble & Smashbox for hosting project #tweetseat I loved being a part of it & I hope you guys enjoyed reading about it & have fallen in love with some of the products.

Project #Tweetseat

Can I have a drumroll please….. I have some very exciting news.

If you've read any of my previous posts you'll see that I'm getting on board and starting a new project with the people of a Boots store near me in Cheltenham.

Bumble & Bumble, Ojon & Smashbox have got together for project #tweetseat and I'm so excited to be getting involved and blogging for them.

Each season, once a month, I'll be going to Boots and trying out great new products from these 3 amazing brands and having a new hair style from Individual Glamour and Ojon and Bumble & Bumble's Kirsty who will be helping me show you guys how to create the latest hair looks at home with some fantastic products.

Teamed with the lovely ladies at Smashbox I'll also be trying out some great summer party looks, wedding guest looks and throughout the seasons, autumnal looks and even at the end of the year, perfect looks for the party season.

I'm so excited to get stuck in and show you guys before and afters and how the looks are going to be created. And if I get some products I'll be sure to do some looks of my own and reviews too.

I've used Smashbox before and loved it but I could never get it that easily as there wasn't anywhere local which stocked it… until now! So I'm really looking forward to trying their products again and seeing what new and exciting things they've got on their counter.

Bumble&Bumble and Ojon I've heard such great things about and I cannot wait to see what their products do to my mane of hair.

I'm there this Saturday 7th June so if you're local come say hi!

Be suer to follow me on Twitter @becwaters and on Instagram @bec_waters as I'll be posting pics as I go as well as loads of bits here on TrendetBeau too.

Remember to search for #tweetseat as well to see what the Smashbox, Bumble&Bumble and Ojon team are doing too!

My Life In Bags & Boxes

After getting our house keys at the end of march & being uber excited for the prospect of moving into our new home, Saturday couldn't come quick enough!

All going well we finally get to move into our new home this weekend! Kitchen is (fingers crossed) being fitted this weekend which should mean we can get on in there.

After renovating to the max for the lad 2 months I CANNOT wait to get in there. The bedrooms are done, living room done, kitchen should be done & other rooms are done but just need finishing touches but we're looking forward to all the little projects we can do when we're in. As surely we'll get bored when we've been hands on for two months & then suddenly we have time to relax?! Our sofas are still in the plastic !

Be prepared for a few house updates over the next few months then a house tour in photos when it's completely done.

On a beauty note, I'm doing a collab with BOOTS, Smash Box, Ojon & Bumble & Bumble next month & will be showcasing loads of products & looks. I'm so excited to say this is a whole new venture & is going to be a monthly feature full of new looks for each season! Very exciting so keep your eyes peeled :)

I'm Oil Free!!

For as long as I can remember I have always had an oily face. Might not be a fresh hot topic but let's be honest, we all have those days (some apparently more frequent than others).

I was fed up of my make up sliding around my face or when i touched my skin it just rubbing off. I've tried so many foundations and primers and they all say "Perfect for oily skin" and I'm always left feeling a bit peeved, because let's be honest who likes wasting money on products which don't work for your skin.

I've tried setting powders, oil free make up, mattifying creams and nothing works. Okay, for the first part of the day my face looks fresh, natural and my make up looks perfect, but give it 3 hours and I'm as shiny as anything and look like I've just ran a marathon.

So… (this story isn't all doom and gloom) I decided to try something which I think is really weird, Face Blotting Papers. I wasn't sure how well they'd work or how weird it would be, but none the less I went out to Superdrug and bought a pack, the Deep Action Skincare Mattifying Shine Control Papers. They're not the cheapest thing in the world at £2.59 but you get 60 sheets in this little book so really it's a right bargain.

The idea of them is when you start to look or feel a bit greasy, you rip out a sheet and just press it against your face. It takes off the oil, removes the shine BUT doesn't remove your make up.

Now I've done this before with a tissue (haha) and I've seen plenty of make up smeared all over the sheet when I've finished so wasn't aiming for high expectations but I was really surprised.

I tried them on a Hen Weekend, so it was a proper hard core first outing for these bad boys. I put my make up on at 7:30am and was out the door by 7:50am and then on the train by 8:05am. I told my friend all about this little book and said when I look shiny let me know and I'll whack them out. So 2 hours into the journey I felt a bit slimy so thought here goes nothing and ripped out a sheet and dabbed it on my face. WOW is all I can say at the amount of grease it took off but my make up didn't budge!! RESULT!

I used them a total of 3 times throughout the day and never had to touch up my make up at all. I really think I've found my saviour in this little book of blotters. Okay it'd be great to find a make up which means I didn't  need to blot my face but if all else fails I've definitely got these to fall back on.

It's safe to say they're now a permanent resident in my handbag!

Have you tired the face blotting papers before? Let me know what you thought below!

I've Bought A House!

Where have I been?

I know I've been MIA on this blog for aggggges! But let me come back with a good reason.

I've bought a house!!!

It's been an utter whirlwind but me and my boyfriend have bought our first home together. After a lot of ups and downs and having to pull out of a property previously we've found our home!

We got the keys at the end of April but have yet to move in as just like Gemma from Gemsmaquilage we too are having to renovate to the max! With new kitchen bathroom and a complete gut of everything inside it's been an empty shell for a while, but now it's all coming together and I'm excited to say that we should (fingers crossed) be moving in at the end of this month!

I'm so excited to finally start living there and spending many happy years creating memories and feeling happy in our own home.

So let's get on to some pictures, as it's always the best way to tell a story! If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter you've probably seen these photos before but here we go! And bare in mind we've been renovating for nearly two months and most of these pics are either during or after we've finished! :)

This is my house. I think it's pretty haha

A tree in the garden. It makes me feel summery!

Our kitchen half way taking all the old units out! It's now a bare room with new kitchen in next week!

A before during and after of our box room!

And here's the box room finished- just carpet to go!

The before and after of the master bedroom.  It was covered in built in furniture. So glad to see it gone and love how beautiful and fresh it looks now.

I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek into the new pad, i'll be back on form with posts early June as still go a fair way to go before we move in.

Look out for a post on Ojon and Bumble and Bumble soon as doing a great review and post with Boots!

See you soon xxx
